Kooch Kavach aka Baahubali fence to be installed on highways

To prevent cattle entry onto the highways, NHAI has come up with an innovative idea to install a Bamboo crash barrier on the national highways of India. This bamboo fence is treated with creosote oil and coated with a nature-friendly solution of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), thus this becomes environment-friendly and will act as wildlife and cattle-friendly. This material is a good alternative to mild steel barriers which are currently installed on most of the highways so hence it is called Baahubali. This fence has been installed on section 23 of NH-30 in Chhattisgarh ahead of the prime minister’s visit. This innovation is part of a policy adopted by Union Minister Gadkari and gradually these barriers will be implemented on the other highways.
